TURNING “SWORDS INTO PLOWSHARES AND SPEARS INTO PRUNING HOOKS” TO FORGE DURABLE PEACE AND ECONOMIC PROSPERITY IN SHATTERED COMMUNITIES IN THE NORTH WEST REGION OF CAMEROON.

*BIHAPH PEACE BUILDING MODEL: "Increased in Community Livelihood: Mainstreaming Economic Activities in peace building, poverty reduction in shattered communities to mitigate violence and build social cohesion"_*
Over Ten common innitiative groups (CIGS) received farm tools and seeds on March 10 to draw the curtains of a partnership between BIHAPH and the Canadian Fund for Local Innitiative (CFLI) in a project, "__Strengthening participatory Strategic Community Peacebuilding, Through an ln-Depth Capacity Development and Education In Bamenda I, II and III".
They received wheelbarrows, sprayers, hoes, gloves, corn, irish potatoes and huckleberry seeds among others.
Amidst songs of joy, dancing overflowing and contagious joy the happy beneficiaries electrified the room as the matched forward to receive their gifts- An expression of happiness and appreciation for an initiative that has contributed significantly to the PEACE of Bamenda I, II and III municipalities.
Preciding over the event was the
President of the Regional Council who encouraged these farmers to make maximum use of the donations as a symbol of PEACE and HOPE. He went on to describe the efforts of BIHAPH in PEACEBUILDING and economic empowerment as examplary.
BIHAPH's CEO and Project Coordinator , Mih Bibiana Dighambong used the opportunity to remind these groups present that the idea of the project is to harness Peace from the grassroots to the top and not the other way round. She expressed profound gratitude to CFLI for partnering with BIHAPH in this very vital project.
CFLI/BIHAPH have since 2021 used the project to enhance holistic PEACE among denizens of Bamenda I, II and III through fireside restitution of trauma healing, use of traditional values values and best practices.
The Closing brought together representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional House of Assembly , Mayors of the various councils, traditional rullers, partner organizations and members of the press.
The people express tears of joy- Emotional tears ? that speak volumes of a people who have lost it all to an ongoing armed conflict and
poised to end the violence and build PEACEFUL COMMUNITIES USING ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND AGRICULTURAL INPUTS (BIHAPH MODEL) which is the backbone of the economy of these three municipalities.
