BIHAPH HEALS THE COMMUNITY IN A 3DAYS TRAUMA HEALING WORKSHOP!
The Bihndumlem Humanitarian Association of Peace and Hope has guided over 25 community leaders in self-care and as Care-givers through a 3days trauma healing workshop with the theme "Citizen Participation and Response in the Wake Of Violent Armed Conflict in the North West Region of Cameroon".
According to Mrs Mih Bibianna, CEO of BIHAPH, the session is timely with the current state of the anglophone crisis where people are broken from the killings, kidnapping, maiming on a daily bases. She says "...Giving to leaders in the community, is not only for them to heal themselves and gain self-care but also to listen to the people affected in their communities and start healing them from the grass-roots..."
The training sessions had as key insights: Trauma Healing- Taking Stock of Personal Concern; “Are we a Peace Spot or Trouble Spot”?Increased in Revival of Communities' Livelihoods as Dividends, Strengthen Peace Advocacy, Reconciliation Activities and many others.
The representative of the quarter head from Bamenda I, "…I will be going back to my community with this knowledge to bring back the wounded minds and to heal them from the pains and shackles of war…"
To this participant from Bamenda II, she appreciates BIHAPH and hopes to implement her lessons learnt in her community; "…We are victims of trauma due to the situation we have on the ground, and Bamenda II has been greatly hit by the crisis. The knowledge I have acquired on identifying trauma and caring for people affected by trauma are timely. …I have benefited a lot because I have been traumatized by the crisis myself…"
With the community leaders healed, expectations are high for them to start healing their communities from different traumas.
